The Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati announced a partnership with Dainese, specialized in producing sports clothing and accessories. The first fruit of that friendship is unheard of for those travelling on two wheels: an integrated wireless vehicle to a model of “airbag jacket”.
This combination uses sensors installed in the jacket which are always attentive to the dynamics of the vehicle, being triggered automatically when there is a “genuine accident scenario”. According to the automaker, the analysis of these data and the command to activate the airbag only takes 45 milliseconds, reducing the risk of injury to the driver at the time of the impact.
So far, the only compatible models of jackets are of Ducati Apparel line, the Dainese. Motorcycle Ducati Multistrada D-Air will have more information revealed on April 15. The release occurs first in Europe and sales begin in may 2014.
